24 Oct. Staying Present with Mindfulness, Even During Stressful Periods

Sina Hübner is a certified MBSR instructor, stress coach, and former PR consultant. Today, she helps people develop a healthy approach to stress – through mindfulness, self-care, and conscious pauses. Since July 2025, Sina has been supporting us with mindfulness trainings. We spoke with her about her journey and her work.

Sina, how did you come to mindfulness?

I have been interested in health and personal development from an early age. When I attended my first mindfulness courses many years later, I was hooked: I realized that there is a different way to approach inner stress than what I had tried before.

At that time, I was working in PR and events – a fast-paced environment with high demands. Soon, I noticed that practicing mindfulness began to change my inner life: I became noticeably calmer, especially during periods of external pressure, and it became easier for me to make decisions that felt right for me.

What makes MBSR special?

MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is scientifically grounded and very practical, as it combines meditation with mindfulness in everyday life. It’s not about always staying calm but about being present – especially in stressful moments.

Those who cultivate mindfulness experience greater inner calm, react less impulsively, and can make clearer decisions.

What kind of concerns do participants bring to your training?

Often it’s chronic stress and the feeling of just “going through the motions.” Many struggle with inner restlessness, insomnia, and the sense of not being enough. They know they should take more conscious time for themselves but fail to implement it amidst the daily hustle of work, personal expectations, relationships, or family.

I help participants develop greater clarity, strengthen their resources, and set healthy boundaries.

How does your work differ from traditional stress management?

I prefer to combine classical mindfulness practice with coaching tools and elements of mindful self-care. This often includes practices of self-kindness, gratitude, and deep resting.

It’s not about “functioning better,” but about genuinely connecting with oneself and realigning in a clearer way – healthily and sustainably – which, in turn, often positively affects one’s surroundings.

Your tip for more mindfulness in everyday life?

Honestly? I could give a simple tip: focus on your breath consciously for two minutes each day. I do this, for example, with my family before breakfast. But tips like this are widely known – and often not implemented. Usually, the issue isn’t lack of knowledge, but lack of practice.

My advice: get a trainer or coach to support you in implementing it. That’s where you gain the most.
